MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND TRANSAXLE EFFICIENCY AND PARASITIC LOSS MEASUREMENT
SAE International
Defines the dynamometer test method for mapping the efficiency of a manual transmission. The method is in two parts - comparing input and output torque throughout a specific input speed range so as to determine 'in-gear' transmission efficiency and measuring parasitic losses experienced in neutral at nominal idling speeds, together with churning losses in gear.
