Two-component, meter-mixed polyurethane elastomers (PUE) which can be applied at varying thicknesses across an area to create a sound barrier. The elastomer is typically filled with barytes or other fillers with high specific-gravities to yield a high-mass layer. Low-density polyurethane foam may then be applied via injection (backfoamed) in order to fabricate a decoupler. Materials must be homogenous and free of voids for maximum acoustic performance. For low-density polyurethane foam for acoustic, decoupler, or dampener backfoamed applications, etc., refer to GMW15065.
Symbols.
Not applicable.
Applicability
Any noise and vibration application where a variable thickness barrier is required.
Remarks
This specification details the requirements of a two-component sprayable polyurethane sound barrier material that can be used for front of dash applications or other applications where a barrier material or barrier-decoupler assembly is required.
