Purpose. Identify the acceptable means of creating and applying the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and/or the VIN derivatives on global program vehicles. Simplify vehicle identification information retrieval and increase the accuracy and efficiency of vehicle recall campaigns.

Applicability. VIN Plate/Label and body applied VIN markings and component VIN derivative markings.
