Applies to the specification of the environmental conditions (electrical, mechanical and climatic) to which reference is made in the rating requirements of equipment standards. Refers to equipment rating only with regard to operational performance, including transportation and storage of equipment. The relevant Basic Safety Publications apply with regard to safety (including insulation co-ordination). Gives particular reference to electronic equipment but also applies to other types of electrical equipment. Does not apply to equipment for exclusive use on ships and vehicles and in mines. Gives guidance to Technical Committees when they prepare or revise any specification of environmental conditions within the scope of this guide. Intended for use as a basis for the co-ordination of IEC standards for equipment.
