Prescribes preferred ratings and characteristics and to select from IEC Publication 1051-1, the appropriate tests and measuring methods, quality assessment procedures and to give general performance requirements for this type of varistor. Applies to surge suppression varistors meant to protect electronic and other sensitive equipment from surges, operating from an a.c. supply, or a d.c. supply having a frequency no more than 400 HZ. This publication also bears the number QC 420100, which is the specification number in the IEC Quality Assessment System for Electronic Components (IECQ).
