This Standard covers fatigue testing, in axial tension, of power transmission roller chains in ASME B29.1M and ASME B29.3M, and nonstandard variants of those chains. The purpose of this Standard is to provide a uniform, reliable method of determining the fatigue strength of power transmission roller chains so that equivalent and comparable results can be obtained from axial fatigue testing at different laboratories.
