Scope

This Standard sets out a method for assessing the resistance of a coating to immersion in distilled or deionized water at ambient temperature, by determining any change in appearance and scratch resistance after the appropriate immersion.

NOTE: This method may be used, modified as agreed between purchaser and supplier, for the determination of the resistance of a coating under other essentially aqueous conditions, provided that the nature of the immersion fluid and the duration of immersion are stated in the report.
