Abstract

Specifies requirements for strength, durability and stability of chairs for school and educational use.

Scope

1 SCOPE This Standard specifies strength, durability and stability requirements for the six sizes of chair for educational institutions.

Normal and severe performance levels are included, and apply to the three largest sizes of chairs. Normal is for use in supervised environments and severe for furniture which may experience a high level of abuse.

NOTE: When sizemarks are referenced in this Standard, they can be found in Appendix N which is an informative guide to dimensions of chairs for the purposes of testing. Appendix N may be deleted by amendment when Part 1 is published.
