Specifies the provision of a national numbering system and the operating, application and registration procedures to be used to obtain issuer identifiacation numbers for identification cards designed for use within Australia. A national numbering system will meet the unique requirements of card issuers that do not issue cards for use in international interchange and will prevent the overloading of the international numbering system.

This Standard provides a national numbering system and specifies the operating, application and registration procedures to be used to obtain issuer identification numbers for identification cards designed for use within Australia. A national numbering system meets unique requirements of card issuers that do not issue cards for use in international interchange.
This Standard also specifies the appeal process that a rejected applicant may follow.
