Abstract

Sets out general requirements applying to used domestic appliances intended for sale for reconditioning (reuse), salvaging of parts only (recycling), (or in New Zealand, historic collections), so that an appropriate safety outcome for the public is achieved without preventing the recycling or resale of electrical appliances or parts which may not be safe to use.

Scope

This Standard gives general requirements applying to used domestic electrical appliances salvaged for reconditioning or parts recycling. In New Zealand it applies also to appliances in historic collections.

This Standard does not apply to:

(a) Used electrical appliances offered for resale and which comply with the requirements of AS/NZS 3760 or AS/NZS 60950.

(b) Commercial electrical appliances.

(c) New electrical appliances.

(d) Appliances sold for breaking down for scrap material.
