Scope

This Standard describes four grades for products sawn or milled from hardwood.
NOTES:
1 The coverage by this Standard of all hardwood species does not imply their availability nor the availability of every grade in any species or species group.
2 Milled timber for window frames, sashes and sills is specified in AS 2047.
3 Timber for furniture components is specified in AS 2796.3.
4 This Standard may be used as a basis for a third party product certification scheme.
5 Natural colour variations are to be expected within a species. Some species exhibit only small variations while in others colour varies greatly. Differences may occur between growing regions and the age of tree may also have a significant influence. In some species, the colour of the sapwood may differ markedly from the colour of the heartwood. Such natural colour variations are not covered by this Standard.
