Abstract

Sets out requirements for sheaves in mine winding systems. Covers materials, manufacture, design, non-destructive testing and marking. Appendices provide information on rim dimensional proportions, surface stress between rope and sheave, sheave diameter and allowable wear for sheave rims without inserts.

Scope

This Standard specifies requirements for sheaves manufactured from ferrous materials used in mine winding systems. This Standard does not apply to drive pulleys used in friction winder installations.
