Scope

This Standard specifies general requirements for electrical wiring systems (other than communications wiring) in furniture (and similar fitments) that are connected to an electrical installation.
The Standard applies to furniture connected to fixed installation wiring by -
(a) direct connection (such as terminals or installation couplers that are not further cascaded); or
(b) a detachable connection (such as a plug or appliance inlet).
This Standard does not apply to electrical equipment used with or within office furniture, for which appropriate Standards are available. The Standard does not apply to installation wiring within the scope of AS/NZS 3000.
