2002 data pertaining to U.S. occupational injuries, illness and fatalities for an employer's own employees were submitted to the American Petroleum Institute (API) by seventy-two oil and gas companies (including six subsidiaries), employing persons with a total work experience of 338 million hours. In 2001, ninety companies reported 363 million hours.
